Tim Hortons, Canadian, Again?

For those of you who don’t follow the intricacies of Canadian business, you may have missed the fact that Timmies is currently owned by an American company (the same company that owns Wendy’s). Good news then! Due to the terrible state of the economy and the fact that most of their business is Canadian, Tim Hortons is becoming a Canadian company again so they can take advantage of Canada’s better tax rates!

For our generation, having seen great Canadian Icons like HBC  being sold off, Ontario’s manufacturing core being battered seemingly beyond repair and our CBC being eviscerated by the conservatives, this tiny step makes me feel just a bit better. Because, when push comes to shove, at least we’ll have our favorite coffee as the world goes to hell.
